– Minutes – 13th July 2021

A Parish Council meeting was held in the Village Hall, West Burton on Monday, 13 July 2021.

Present: Miss Jane Ritchie, Ms Beth Daley, Mr Rowland Dent, Mr Andrew Landau and Mrs Sally Sahin, Councillors, and Mrs Susan Ryding, Clerk

There were no apologies, all the members being present.

  1. Declarations of interest

There were no declarations of interest.

  1. Minutes

The minutes of the Parish Council meeting held on 21 June 2021, having been circulated to all Members, were confirmed as a true copy, and duly signed by the Chairman.

  1. Clerk’s Report

The Clerk reported on the following matters:

  • Council website
  • Distribution of the Newsletter
  • Traffic survey cameras
  • Flood warnings on the A684
  • Welcome packs
  • Clerk’s salary and PAYE
  • Council finances

RESOLVED: That cheques for £25.00 should be sent to each of the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and the Great North Air Ambulance as a donation in lieu of the cost of the electricity to power the Christmas tree lights, as arranged with the owner of the Black Bull

  1. Dredging of the Beck opposite the Grange

The Clerk reported that she had attended a site meeting with Mr Peter Iveson to discuss the possibility of removing some of the bank of stones that had built up in the Beck on the bank opposite Woolers Dub. Mr Iveson was willing to undertake the work if a suitable place to dispose of the smaller stones could be found. The Clerk then contacted Mr Peter Dobbing who provisionally agreed to take the stones. Mr Iveson suggested that the larger stones could be brought over to the Woolers Dub bank to re-inforce the work already completed there. He also gave an estimated quote of in the region of £1,200.00.

RESOLVED: That Mr Peter Iveson’s quote is acceptable and that he should be asked to undertake the work, and that the Clerk should confirm that Mr Peter Dobbing is happy to take the smaller stones.

  1. Celebrations to mark the Platinum Jubilee of HM The Queen in 2022

The Council consider information received from a Royal Communication on the details of the four days of celebration of the Platinum Jubilee which will take place from Thursday, 2 June to Sunday 5 June 2022. Various ideas were put forward for the Big Jubilee Lunch on Sunday, 5 June, including a hog roast, a bring-and-share meal, and a bouncy castle.

RESOLVED: That a meeting of the Fundraising Committee of the whole Parish should be convened, probably in September to consider the matter further.

  1. Improvements to the War Memorial in St Andrew’s Church in Aysgarth

The Chairman reported that she had received advanced information of an appeal for funds for improvements to the War Memorial in St Andrew”s Church. The details of the improvements were then circulated around the Councillors.

RESOLVED: That the Council would await an official letter from the Vicar of St Andrew”s Church and then consider a donation towards the work of £100.00

  1. Invoices

Cheques for the following invoices were signed

  • Stamps and stationery – £100.79 (VAT £5.80)
  • Village Hall rental – £10.50
  1. Notice of meetings and reports of meeting attended

Councillors noted the dates of future meetings and heard a report from the Chairman on a meeting of the Upper Dales Health Watch that she had attended.

RESOLVED: That in addition to any matters mentioned above, there were no other items for the next agenda.

 

There being no further business, the meeting closed at 8.30 pm
